Blip Vent

Latitude: 18.813οN                  Longitude: 147.017οE             Depth: 3085 m bsl

Blip is a serpentinite mud volcano located in the Mariana forearc (Curtis et al., 2013) about 56 km from the trench (IODP-MCME 366 Proposal). Although its activity is unknown, several measurements of the fluid chemistry have been done during IODP Expedition (IODP-MCME 366 Proposal). Two types of archaea have been discovered from this vent (Curtis et al., 2013).
