In a continual effort to expand and enhance the international component of its collections, Eugene McDermott Library has instituted a trial program with Casalini Libri, a leading distributor of scholarly European books to libraries throughout the world.
Headquartered in Fiesole (near Florence), this company now supplies McDermott Library with core selections from more than 100 European publishers. Providing all acquisition and cataloging services for these titles, Casalini Libri sends McDermott Library current academic publications and literary award winners in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. These titles represent the best in current European scholarship across the social sciences and humanities.
"We will be reviewing the use of this material in the future to determine what additional steps will be needed. We are particularly interested in assessing this program to determine how applicable it is to the university's curriculum and to faculty research," said Dr. Ellen Safley, Director of Libraries.
Representative titles include:
La Banque de France et l'État: de Giscard à Mitterrand;
O Cinema sobre o Olhar de Salazar;
Novalis: Leben und Werk;
Arcimboldo: Artista Milanese tra Leonardo e Caravaggio;
El Siglo de Oro en la España Contemporánea.
