Edgar Munoz

Now at Instituto de Carboquimica, CSIC

Dr. Edgar Muñoz earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Instituto de Carboquimica, Spain in 2000. His doctoral thesis, entitled “Carbon Nanotubes: Production by Laser Ablation and Characterization” was prepared under the supervision of Dr. M. Teresa Martínez (Instituto de Carboquímica, CSIC) and Dr German F. de la Fuente (ICMA, CSIC-Universidad de Zaragoza).

In October, 2000, he joined Ray Baughman’s group at Honeywell International, and joined the UTD NanoTech Institute in September, 2001, where he worked on the preparation and optimization of carbon nanotube sheets and fibers for electromechanical actuator applications. Additionally, he was a founding member of the “nano-bio” effort at UTD.

After returning to the Instituto de Carboquímica in 2003, his primary research interests are in the fabrication of multifunctional nanocomposite materials, chemical functionalization of carbon nanotubes, sensors, biosensors, production of novel nanostructured materials, and laser processing of materials.Edgar loves Beatles music, playing guitar, and Adair’s burgers.”
