Retirement Planning Expo

Free Employee Flu Shots

Faculty, staff, and student workers who present their proof of insurance can receive flu shots free of charge, on November 7-8, 2013, at several locations around campus. Sign up online to get a copy of your consent form in advance. Fill it out before you arrive to get in and out quickly!

Join the UT System Physical Activity Challenge

Get Up! Get Out! Get Going!

The UT Dallas Wellness Program and UT System are challenging you to “Get Up! Get Out! And Get Going!” The UT System Physical Activity Challenge is an online, six-week challenge that begins May 1. To participate in the challenge, you must register at https://livingwell.provantonline.com.

UT Dallas, our institution, is your team, so get together with your co-workers and find ways to put physical activity into your day. Take a walk at lunch, meet up at the gym, encourage each other to get moving — and keep track of what you do. The institution with the greatest percentage of activity logged will be awarded the coveted “Traveling Trophy!”

Are you ready? Join today:

  • The Physical Activity Challenge begins on Wednesday, May 1, and ends on Wednesday, June 12
  • Registration is open now through Tuesday, May 7
  • Your goal is to complete 150 minutes of physical activity weekly (half an hour a day, five days a week for six weeks)
  • Visit the Living Well Health Platform’s Cardio Log to log your activity under the “Exercise” heading
  • There will be “real-time” standings by institution available on the Platform throughout the challenge
  • Not a UT Select medical plan member? You can still participate. Email Nora Pena (nora.pena@utdallas.edu) to receive the Physical Activity Challenge log form
  • The winning institution will be announced shortly after the Challenge ends and will have the honor of hosting the Activity Challenge Traveling Trophy for the year
  • Members with the most activity logged will receive individual recogition and all personal success stories will be highlighted

This year’s challenge is being hosted through the Living Well Health Platform powered by Provant and is fully supported by each institution’s Wellness Program. By logging your physical activity, you can help UT Dallas come out on top!

At 10:00 a.m., Feb. 14, UT Dallas students, faculty and staff are urged to walk or exercise for 10 minutes in support of wellness.

10 Week Wellness Challenge

This indoor walk across campus to launch the challenge started from the lobby of TI Auditorium in South Engineering and Computer Science building and concluded in the Administration building at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28.

Go Red for February

Members of the Human Resources Department Wore Red

Members of the Human Resources department wore red on Friday, February 1, in support of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red” campaign to raise awareness that heart disease is the Number One killer of women.

Wear red on Friday, February 1 as a reminder that your Heart Health starts with you! Since heart disease is the #1 killer in the U.S., it’s time to take responsibility …

  • Control your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.
  • Don’t smoke! If you smoke now, it’s time to quit.
  • Get active for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Avoid being overweight or obese.
  • Eat right, emphasizing fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Take time to manage stress by getting enough rest and relaxation.
  • Have a cardiac disease risk assessment.

The Challenge Begins January 28

10-Week Wellness Challenge

The 10-Week Wellness Challenge, a team-based weight-loss and physical activity program, will run January 28 through April 5, 2013.

Vice President for Administration Calvin Jamison will lead the kickoff walk at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, from the lobby of TI Auditorium in South Engineering and Computer Science.

Students, faculty and staff can sign up now at livehealthynorthtexas.org.

At registration, payment for your entire team is required. Cost is $20 per person. UT Dallas’ group code is LHDUTD.

The first team to register will have its fees reimbursed. The first three teams to register will receive a prize.
